Summer Course Schedule

I'm gonna be here Summer C and plan on taking classes for Summer A, B, and C and just wanted to hear a little feedback on the level of difficulty of this schedule.

Calc 1 (summer C) - 4 credits
Exceptional People (Summer A) - 3 credits
Intro to Stats 2 (Summer A) - 3 credits
Microeconomics (Summer A) - 3 credits
Macroeconomics (Summer B) - 3credits
The Insects (Summer B) - 3 credits

Not impossible, but defiantly going to be a hard/time consuming summer. You see how you are taking 3 classes summer A, you are going to have a exam every two weeks in those classes. Its also possible that they might be on the same day. Plus you have calculus to worry about which might be every 3rd or 4th week. Same thing goes for summer C.

Yeah Summer A and Summer B are always killer. That is a class that only lasts a month, so they will cram everything in as little time as possible.

My s is thinking of taking differential equations summer B, hopefully with something easier. Is this doable??

anyone know anything about STA 4210 (regression analysis) as a fall class? how hard/time consuming is this class? Is it possible to take in conjunction with calc 2

I always hear how easy EEX3312 (Exceptional People) is but I know that Nelson (the one who teaches it during the Fall/Spring/Summer B) isn't teaching it Summer A so I don't know how much stress that'll cause you. And you have to do 10 volunteer hours with EEX3312, remember that :) (I'm actually signing up for it Summer B)

dark962001, have you taken any statistics course before? That's a prerequisite. I intend to take that class one of these days. Might even do it next semester. From what I've experienced so far statistics classes here aren't so tough.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but it is somewhat on the subject.

I am planning to take Dif Eq Summer A, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for 2 easy Gen Ed classes. (I saw that eex class, but what is that class even about?)

I shouldn't have asked, since you're the thread creator and it's obvious you've taken some stats before, so ignore my question. I think you'll be fine. All the stats classes I've taken so far aren't very time consuming. Takes at most 2-3 hours for me to study the material.

yea I've take intro to stats and thats the only prereq for STA 4210 (though I plan on taking stat 2 summer A just for more background) but in fall I plan on taking:

Calc 2
STA 4210 (regression analysis)
ENC2210 (tech writing)
SPC2600 (Intro to public speaking)
and some slack class

How demanding would this schedule be? and any info about the difficulty and time consumption of STA4210 would be great

The schedule doesn't look too bad, though you might have to fight to get in regression analysis. As I said I haven't taken the class but will eventually. I'm taking STA 4321 right now (Calc 1-3 is needed) and it's not very difficult. Usually spend an hour per week on it, if that puts things into perspective.

"My s is thinking of taking differential equations summer B, hopefully with something easier. Is this doable??"

Doable, I took Diff EQ summer b. It was really easy but I think that class is very professor dependent. I had Bonner.

To the original poster: That's a lot of credits, but you can definitely do it because the only real class there is Calc.

So would throwing ACG2021 (financial accounting) into the mix hurt at all, I know its supposed to be impossible here but i know someone taking it who read the book the first 2 weeks of school and goes to his lectures getting A's without spending more than 2-3 hours a week on it. It's for my minor which is the only reason i wanna get it out of the way

I'm in ACG2021 right now and I can tell you it's not exactly the most exciting class (my least favorite, actually). The professor loves to throw in trick questions or obscure wording in order to throw us off. The class itself isn't that hard, it's just there's so much stuff to remember and understand and most of it is foreign.

Are you doing actuarial science by any chance?

yea actuarial science is my minor, stats is my major

Best of luck to you. I'm also doing actuarial science. Maybe we'll meet each other in the near future.

Are there any ways to make ACG2021 much better than the horror stories i have heard and any opinions on this course schedule would be helpful:

MAC2212 (calc2)
ACG2021C( financial accounting)
STA4210 (Regression Analysis)
SPC2600 or ENC2210 (intro to public speaking or tech writing)

And is it possible to get them to open another seat for STA4210 because it is a course for my major but all the seats are gone.

Financial accounting is way overrated. It gets a bad rep because a lot of people who aren't used to studying at all until 3 days before the test try to pull the same stunt and it doesn't work in that class. Then they drop it and talk about how hard it was, when the problem was that they didn't put forth any effort. If you stay on top of things and read test questions carefully it's not too difficult.

I suppose it helps if you don't have my schedule, then it'll make that class more manageable. We have weekly quizzes every Friday in accounting, which happens to be the day I hate the most. 3 of my classes (not including accounting) love giving tests on that day, so I pretty much have a lot to study for those days. As a matter of fact, I have two tests plus the quiz this Friday, so you can see there's a lot going on for me every Friday. It's definitely doable as long as your Fridays aren't occupied like mine. Tests aren't so bad. Except the final, they aren't curved though, so watch out.

As for your stats problem, you pretty much have to resort to checking ISIS everyday until a spot opens up.
