I'm interested in going back to CA for the summer. But I need to be taking summer courses. I want to do it at Stanford and then transfer credits to MIT. How do I go about doing this?

You register for the school’s summer session by filling out the necessary paperwork (Stanford’s website should have the directions on what to do). Then after you take the courses in the summer, request a transcript from Stanford and send it to MIT.

^^Bad advice. Many schools require that you get pre-approval for the courses you plan to take at another school. Otherwise, they might not give you credit. My kid had to do this for Vanderbilt courses while he was at Penn. This is to make sure the classes are going to be more or less equivalent to what is offered at the “home” school.

MOWC is exactly right. One of our kids took 3 summer courses at another school in different years. There was a form from his home college that had to be completed and accompanied by a copy of the course description from the “summer course” college. That form had to be signed by 3 different people at his home college and submitted to registrar before he received approval for taking the courses for transfer credit.
