So, I just started college at LCC in the spring and I need to take summer courses to catch up and I also need the loan money badly. From what I have found out, I have to take a full 12 credit hours in order to qualify as a full time student and receive all the loans. Do you think it would be a good idea for me to take 4 classes in the summer with how shortened it is (8 weeks)? I will also have my b/f's children full time during the summer (for the first time of having them not on a staggered schedule). Any help would be great, thank you. :)

I wouldn’t do that. 12 credits in 8 weeks is equivalent to 24 credits in a full 16 week semester. Hopefully your credits aren’t too much (its about $140/credit here), and just take two classes and find a way to pay for it.

Also be sure to talk to your financial aid office to make sure there are no other options. Another thing you could do is take those make up courses in the fall. I’ve never heard of a school forcing someone to take summer courses to catch up, when they could just take those courses in the fall and push their timeline back a semester.
