Summer credits?

I kinda messed up this year at school and I wanted to make up for it. I made an appointment with my counselor to talk to him about it. I told him how I was really mad about my grades and was determined to do anything to raise my GPA. I asked him if summer school was available this year. He told me that they don't know yet (because of the schools short budget) and that even if it is available you can't take it because your not doing bad enough in any class. He said the best thing to do was to just work a lot harder next year to raise my GPA. So then I left his office forgetting to ask him something else that I am hoping someone here can answer.

Are there any summer programs at colleges for high school students to take as credits that will affect my GPA?

That's a tricky question, since it mostly depends on the administration and whether they will accept the courses, credit them, and include your scores on your GPA.

My school only accepts courses if you plan on opting out of them or advancing to the next sequential course. For example, you can take College Algebra at a local CC, and they'll count that as an Algebra II course, meaning you can go on to precalc the following semester. They won't, however, include it in your GPA.

oh so I guess it depends on the school. So basically if my school has the same rules like yours there is no way to up my GPA during the summer?
