Summer Essay Question

Hi everyone,

First and foremost, congratulations to all the EA applications who were admitted! And no worries to those who weren't. Anyway, I'm working on my app for RD and have a question about the Summers essay (preferably for people who have been admitted to Princeton or are current students, but all responses are greatly appreciated). Is it supposed to be an actual essay about our summers, or more of a list of our activities?

Thanks so much!

I wrote one paragraph for last summer and one paragraph for the summer before that. It was pretty straightforward with no insights etc. but it wasn’t just a bullet point resume. Whole sentences and fun words; it seemed to work :)

I did the same. It was just a I did this and here are some details about it sort of thing. No frills

i did a more elaborate essay… three paragraphs (each about a different activity) that mainly listed what I did, although also included some more personal/humorous touches

I wrote a two-part essay, with some deeper insight in the first part describing a more personal experience not outlined in the common app, and a more straightforward second part detailing a professional experience.

I wrote a 4 paragraph narrative about my summer hobbies

Thank you all so much for your input. It seems like they offer a lot of freedom with it. I guess it’s just person preference. Thanks again! :)
