Summer/Fall 2013 Decisions Thread

CAN SOMEONE please chance me?
GPA 3.26 Weighted, 3.04 Unweighted
SAT composite: 1230/1750
Math: 690
Reading: 540
Writing:520

Decent essay, 200 community service hours, no recs, not many extracurriculars…

Help??

Eh, I’d say not the best chance.

When did you apply? Or are you a junior about to apply next year? Like Niquii said, you don’t have a great chance, but you still have one. A 1230/1750 isn’t a bad score. How do you not have any recs?

I am a senior who just applied today. I have no recommendations, but I have taken all honors courses and 2 AP throughout my entire high school career. Should I see if I can get 2 recommedations?

You should definitely get at least one letter. Two would be great. I think you should apply for the summer term, unless you’re completely adverse to it. My brother has around the same stats as you and I told him to do that.

Yeah, I can’t do summer haha

I can easily get 2 letters written and sent before my transcript/test scores arrive. I really don’t want to go to FGCU, the campus is too much like home…

Oh. You mean you live too close? I’m thinking of doing summer classes. It would help me get out in 2 or 3 years, depending on how they accept AP and DE credits.

Exactly! And I have friends who were accepted to UCF earlier this year. I tested better than all of them on the SAT, but their GPA’s are 3.7+. And they applied early action. We shall see

There’s no early action, though…

They applied early* is what I meant to say.

Cappex makes me feel good about myself.

You’re solid? X)

I called UCF in October asking them to not make a decision until my new SAT scores came in. They said ok, but weeks later they made a decision anyway. Accepted to Fall 13!

Two days later my decision status changed suddenly. I was now only being offered summer admission. They told me that whatever letter I received in the mail was the official decision. The funny thing was I got 3 letters: one saying welcome to fall 2013, one saying welcome to summer 2013 and the other one saying ‘thank you for accepting your offer of admission at UCF’ - which I had not done!

Despite numerous calls and emails, they wouldn’t help me whatsoever. They even had the nerve to ask me to make a decision within 30 days on whether I would be attending or not.

Weeks later, I improved my score by over 300 points and was accepted to my dream school, the University of Florida, last week and have scholarship offers from other schools. Today I had the pleasure of rejecting UCF’s offer of admission! And of course, instead of a “Thank you for considering our school” message, I got a message essentially saying ‘Thanks, but we can’t offer you admission. You’re just not qualified enough.’

Goodbye UCF and good riddance! Congratulations to those of you who got in and are looking forward to attending. After my experiences with this university, I’ve found that it is definitely not the right fit for me.

That is weird, Congrats on University of Florida though!

@ryanx13 That’s weird and hard to believe.

Finally got accepted, guys! Looking forward to seeing you all but have a few more questions: did everybody get “chosen” for verification for tax forms? Also, does anybody know how to get a hold of a enrollment fee waiver? The website said it’s possible and to call but when I called I sat on hold for an hour and nobody ever came to the line?

Congratulations!!!
My understanding is that not every one gets “chosen” because it is aleatory, which means random. It happened once to me (I also take classes, I am a mom), but it also happened to my son. I believe you just need to fill out a form and that’s it.
Regarding the fee waiver, my son and I thought about it, and we emailed the admission people and they emailed us the form. I can’t find it anymore, but again, it is just a form that needs to be filled out.
Try emailing them to see if the send you the link or the form.

Got in for Summer’13 :D

Got accepted last night to Summer 2013!

Congrats all!
