•1st and 2nd choice majors
•quality of essays
•# of letters of rec and who wrote them

I’m applying for Fall 2015 as well!
Thanks everyone!
-Texas Tech
-4.0 Fall semester/ expected 4.0 this upcoming fall. (Received one B in a dual credit class in HS and not sure if it counts toward my transfer GPA but if it does I have a 3.931)
-Applied to CNS (Backup COLA)
-Chemistry/undeclared
-Not sure how great my essays are. I think they’re pretty good but still need feedback. If anyone could read them that would be great.
-4 LOR. 1 from Calc professor, 1 from Arabic professor, 1 from former alum of CNS, and 1 from a high posted doctor.
- Hundreds near a thousand hours of EC in HS. In college I am currently volunteering at a hospital and have joined the pre med society. Also made the presidents honor list along with Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.
My chances for Chemistry?
expected 4.0 this upcoming spring* sorry
University of Houston
Freshman transferring for Sophomore 2015
Fall 2014: 4.0/ Spring 2015 expecting: 4.0
College of Liberal Arts - Economics (1st choice)
College of Liberal Arts - Undeclared (2nd choice)
Decent essays
2 College Professors - Economics professor and Accounting professor
I have a good amount of EC’s and leadership positions from high school and college organizations
I was originally trying to transfer into McCombs, but I would not have my Calc 2 requirement on time, so I am planning on internally transferring after my sophomore year in UT.
Any advice/suggestions?
@decorus Heading into COLA won’t be as difficult as other schools but Economics is the toughest to get into. With a 4.0 you shouldn’t have a problem.
@kyotoraz Thank you for your input! I have a question about the 30 transferrable credit hours. I took 12 this semester because they were all heavy reading (Macroeconomics, humanities, anthropology, and government). However, I did take a summer course prior to the fall semester and I have an AP credit that transfers over to UT. All in all I should have 18 credits, but do AP scores transfer over? Im planning on taking 15 credit hours next semester, but I’m scared they’ll only count the credits I earned through University of Houston (total 27). Is it okay for me to take 15 credit hours or should I take 18 to be safe? Thanks.
@decorus The safest option would be to contact UT’s admissions office. If you have already received credit for the AP course you took at your current university then i believe it will transfer over but better safe than sorry right?
@kyotoraz That’s true, I’ll call them tomorrow and post it here when I find out how they transfer it over. Would it be safe for me to apply undeclared to COLA as a second option if I do not get into economics or should I pick a different school such as Moody College of Communication? I think college of UGS is full because they would not allow me to pick it as a choice of backup major.
@decorus Sounds good! COLA undeclared is probably one of the easiest to get into and if you’re really wanting to get into economics that’s the way to go unless you have something else in mind. UGS isn’t offered to transfer students anymore due to the major increase of transfers that decide to use it as a second option. It’s really a school for students that are already enrolled in the university and are trying to figure out their future.
•College transferring from: TEXAS A&M
•current/expected GPA: 3.875 at TAMU (48 cr) 4.0 at local cc (12 cr) 3.9 total
•College applied for. Cockrell
•1st and 2nd choice majors
1st: Chemical Engineering
2nd: Computer Science
I got in last year as a CS major, but didnt get my decision until late may/early june so I had already decided to stay at tamu. I do not know if getting in before helps me at all??
I posted a separate thead a few weeks ago, but no one responded.
- UT Arlington (CAP Student)
- 4.0 GPA (Fall) / I’m confident for a 4.0 come spring semester.
- 31 Hours in-residence / 29 Hours from D.C./AP credit (some hours from credit will not matter for my planned degree).
- 1st: Cockrell, Electrical Engineering
- 2nd: Undergraduate Studies (We’re required to put a “guaranteed” major as our 2nd choice.
- Essays are good, still revising them though.
- Rec. letters from Calc. 1/2 Prof. and Chem 2 Professor.
- CBS (Chemistry and Biochemistry Society)
- I’ll have all the required courses for engineering: Cal 1/2 and Engineering Physics 1 + Lab. Since I’m already guaranteed a spot in the university itself, I’m aiming for engineering.
@MC2411 That’s commendable that you got in last year, especially for CS, but I doubt it would impact your application for a different year. Admissions would look on the criteria accomplished in college.
Hey guys can you chance me? I’m a little worried about my GPA but I think I have some solid credentials to back up my application.

Thank you guys and I hope all of your hear the decisions that you want!
@JD1327 You have a very solid shot for Cockrell. As long as you have above 30 hrs. on your transcript by the time you apply UT will immediately consider you for admission. Also I’m almost positive they no longer allow transfers in UGS. You might want to contact admissions on that but I was at UT in the beginning of December for a transfer session and they talked about this heavily. They want transfers to have their major decided by the time they apply. I still believe you can apply undeclared at certain colleges within UT such as COLA but not UGS as a whole.
@cdctransfer I think you do have a great chance
@cdctransfer Thanks for letting me know! I had no idea that UT started doing that, I’ll definitely call. Also, I’m certain I’ll have the 30 hours as CAP students have to wait until after spring semester to submit their college transcript. This might be an indication of how long it’ll take for engineering applicants to receive their decision, but then again UT’s admission process is a mystery in itself lol
In terms of your application, you’ll definitely show some individuality with the films you’ve already done. I don’t know that much about Moody/RTF, but I’m aware that it’s competitive. Your GPA is good, but are you allowed to submit your spring transcript? Try to raise it a tad bit higher. If you can’t, I wouldn’t worry that much because you have some great EC’s. Do well in your essays, and you’ll have a good shot.
Sorry for double posting (Ran out of edit time), but to any others chancing, I’ll also have completed General Chemistry I (Dual Credit) and General Chemistry II (A) by the time I submit my application in addition to the gen ed. classes (Sociology, US History 1/2, English 1/2, Literature Course (RHE 306K), Art Appreciation, US/TX Govt.).
I have a question, I took a ACT test during 2012 and I did REALLY BADDDD. I just start my transfer application last October and I send in the better one that I took in November 2013. After I checked my status and I saw that my bad ACT score that I took in 2012, I don’t know how did it get to UT. Does anyone know how to take it out or will it effect my application and I think yes? Any advice?
Another question, I just noticed that there’s no Jackson School in UT application, how to apply to this school or we cannot apply to this JSG?
Thanks a lot
