Summer/Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

Last year I believe the first decisions went out on Easter weekend, including a few to engineering and business. However, it could also be as long as June for some. I know it sucks to wait, but at least it means you are continually “making the cut.”

@ecollin how does that work if your CAP then since we don’t send in a transcript till the end of the semester , which would be around early may to send in transcript

CAP students aren’t admitted until spring grades post, so normal transfer timeline of late may-june 15. Can’t come in a summer applicant unless you already have 30 hours before this semester basically.

Hi can anybody please chance me for Civil Engineering? I have a 3.96 with 48 credits, I’m out of state, have A’s in Calc I and II, and I have Calc III, Chem I, and Physics I in progress. I’m worried because I’ve already been rejected from UIUC which is supposed to be way less selective than Cockrell

@stevenjp you got rejected from UIUC cause its the #1 civil engineering undergraduate college to go to.

@MyLonghorn I know, and now I’m worried I wont get into UT either because its in the same tier but Cockrell is more selective. I got into OSU so I have somewhere to go if I don’t, but I’m just asking here to see if anyone thinks I’ll get in

@stevenjp for civil you should be good to go , your stats look perfectly competitive , only way i can see you not getting is if your wrote just utmost crappy essays and they see no passion or desire in you

Does anyone know how much dual credit courses play into one’s transfer GPA? I made a 3.4 last semester, but on my transfer application it says that my transfer GPA is a 3.1. Does the admissions office only take your college transcript into consideration when reviewing applications or do dual credit courses count as well?

@texaslivin‌ Yes your dual credit GPA is counted and its just averaged into your current GPA.

Does UT switch transfer GPA’s based on their own scale? As in if I got an -A at my current university which is a 4.0 but at UT its a 3.67 i believe. So will they play with GPA’s like that?

@Kyotoraz‌ i don’t think it works like that , your GPA is considered what it is from what ever school you send it from , for example A&M doesn’t have a +/- system , so what ever GPA you get there stays the same in your transfer application

Does anyone have an idea how competitive it is to get into Aerospace Engineering? I haven’t seen anyone on this thread pursuing Aerospace besides myself (as a second choice major).

@arod356 considering a guy was 39% of his class but had a high SAT and good recs I’m assuming not too difficult , also the internal transfer is relatively low … so it would definitely be one of the easy majors in cockrell to get into , even though in general cockrell is hard

Is it still possible to send a letter of recommendation even though the application deadline has passed?

@Kyotoraz‌ Yes, you can

can someone chance me? i am a freshman trying to transer from texas tech university to UT for fall 2015.

  • im trying to transfer into CNS for biology with a second choice of COLA for psych BS.
  • my GPA is a 3.54 and i will have completed 59 hours (most of them are APs from high school) by the end of this semester. i got As in all of the classes that i took last semester, except for one C in chem 1 (although, i got an A in the lab class).

-my extracurricular activities include being on the texas tech cross country team and in high school i ran varsity cross country and track for 3 years as well as being in a couple clubs.

-im also a hispanic female lol if that makes any difference…

@cathys424‌ Your chances seem not too bad but I would try really hard to get the best grades you can this spring semester. I am also a freshman transferring from tech!

Does anyone know the earliest people will start getting decisions?

last year people started getting notices in mid April I think

Anyone think its weird that the period for major changes is only for admitted students from April 1st to May 15th? Seems like that screws the people who don’t get a decision by then. Doesn’t affect me personally because I don’t plan to change majors but I just thought that was weird when I read it
