I applied to cockrell for chemical engineering. Called in today and they said engineering is always the last to hear back and not to expect a decision till mid-end of May…
My stats:
GPA: 3.92
52 hours
4 letters of recommendation
SI instructor, research assistant, REU, and 2 engineering summer programs
A lot of community service, and 2 officer positions
Pretty good essays
That’s odd. I called today and was told the engineering decisions would come out at beginning of May. They said that they start by going through those that don’t have the necessary 30 hours and getting rid of those applicants. Then they start going through the rest. It’s a very competitive process for engineering majors.
I should of probably made a login a while ago to mention this a week ago. A friend of mine already got accepted into Cockrell for mechanical engineering. She’s considering changing to ECE. I want to say it’s probably due to her gpa, ethnicity and essays.
Also a letter of recommendation we both got from the same professor who apparently is sought after for recommendations so this was making her look a qualified applicant.
@applicant567 lol they probably just make something up to make us stop calling
@Jcastro6814 when did she find out? and can you share her stats?
Would it be wise to submit recommendation letters by now? My application won’t be complete until after this spring semester ends, as we are required to submit our spring grades before they even review our application.
@JD1327 my friend called them up and they told her that rec letters are good if they are received before april.
Okay, thanks!
Last week on Wednesday.
4.0 gpa
30+ hours
1 letter of recommendation
Participates in our math club and she’s pretty active from my perspective
She didn’t really tell me much of her essays but she came from Africa so She may have written about that and coming to the U.S
I could ask her more if it’d help.
Honestly I’m surprised that I’ve been on review since mid March. My gpa isn’t as great as my friends (4.0). I would think I’d be rejected a month ago.

That is some seriously depressing stats. Really hoping decisions will be pumped out soon! Thanks for putting it together
My sister was accepted yesterday into the College of Liberal Arts - Studio Art
She is finishing up her sophomore year at UNT and had a GPA of 3.64
Hope everyone gets accepted! I, unfortunately, got CAP’d for my freshman year and, instead, have decided to attend ACC while rooming with my sister! Good luck, everyone.
I feel like I’m waiting in line for space mountain at Disney World. (it takes forever) :-w
Damn. I was kind of expecting more decisions to roll out today. I guess we still have hope. If the majority don’t go out by this week… that’ll really suck.
@Ayeboy11 I did the exact same thing this year I had got cap’d but decided to go to ACC since my brother goes to ut, and just stay with my brother. Finishing my freshman year at ACC.
So I know everyones getting their admission decisions around this time, those who completed their 30 credit hours prior. However, I can’t get my admission decision until after I sent in my 30 hours (including Spring 2015). Will this lessen my chance of getting admitted into UT?
I still am maintaining my 4.0 GPA and am applying for an Economics Major under liberal arts.
Im getting nervous considering I know a handful of people who already received their admissions
@decorus You should be fine. I don’t think Economics is very competitive compared to majors such as CS and Business.
@toastyful Hopefully its not! I forgot that people who already had 30 hours are able to hear their decisions before May 1. Im just scared that slots will fill up very quickly, and its making me nervous because I wanted to be careful and I already agreed for housing with some friends I know, and it would be a big let down to them especially if I couldn’t hold my part and wasn’t accepted.
