Summer/Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

Now I’m scared. I just want to know immediately if I got accepted into Austin or not. I don’t care if I get rejected from McCombs because I expected to. I just want to know for sure I got into liberal arts at least.

I called admissions today. They told me by the beginning of June and THEORETICALLY it could be the week leading up to that. I think all we can do right now is wait another two weeks and then see where this goes. Don’t think it’s worth breaking our heads up about at this time of the month. I really don’t think we’ll be waiting until August.

The scary part for me is that I got in last year, and there’s a chance I may not get in this year because of how competitive it is this year. And that’s horrifying.

I feel like there’s a miscommunication occurring because I know for a fact that Transfer Orientation occurs in mid July because my boyfriend transferred last year. So there’s no way we could find out after that because we wouldn’t have an opportunity to register for fall semester courses. Just my opinion!

Is it possible for me to send them an explanation for a C I got last semester? And if so, how? I think it might help the decision a little bit since I had all A’s and B+'s apart from that one class. I will be completing 30 hours this semester.

http://registrar.utexas.edu/calendars/15-16

There is a orientation session August 18th for transferring students, maybe that is why they told someone that decisions might be out in early August but I feel like it is highly unlikely now that I think about it. It just sucks to see some of my friends deciding to go somewhere else because those universities have a deadline for class registration, etc. I’m lucky that Texas State will let me decide until the end of July, so hopefully UT will let me know before then

I hope housing is available

Finally, the exams are over and it’ll be my full time job to watch this thread and mystatus on UT portal :))

BTW, I read a few pages earlier on this thread that a 4.0 from a CC is equal to any other “better” universities. I respectfully disagree that.

Look at my plight. I got a 92.32% in Rhetoric after putting in 100’s of hours on my 3 essays and still got an “A-” reducing my overall GPA from 4.0 to 3.934. From most other universities, I should have gotten an A. The “+ & -” scheme at UTD is killing me. My prof. was so harsh. The better I did, the worst my grades got. But, I did learn a lot which was easily seen in the essays I wrote for UT, so many thanks to my English teacher for being harsh, will never forget him. Grades can go just that far but knowledge stays with me forever.

Now, to get an A in Cal II, I calculated that I need at least 97% in the finals, else I’m again looking at one A- this semester also (FYI: A- is >90% and counts as 3.67 V/s 4 for an A)

Our local community college in Dallas counts an A for >90%, I think like most other universities.

Anyway, my opinion is just on the grading system at UTD, nothing for any college in special. Otherwise, I know getting a good grade anywhere is tough.

@MyUTAustin Cal2 is tough, more difficult than Cal3 IMHO. I know several very strong students who ended the class with a B. My prof even told us “Cal2 is where 4.0’s come to die” lol. I have two tests this week and then I’m done as well. Good luck to everyone!

@MyUTAustin I thought you already full-time since you joined this thread earlier lolll

Yeah @Yoohooos, you are right:). I’m really anxious for the UT decisions and still no glimpse of that…want to get away from UTD soon. Like many others, I also don’t think the decision could be August, more like next week or the week after :).

Good luck on your exams @MathMeany

Anyone think if I send in my Spring grades and there’s a W in a one credit class it will hurt? I got A’s in everything else. I dropped the one credit class because I found out it wouldn’t transfer anywhere that I applied to so there was no reason to stay in it. It’s an engineering graphics class. Im not required to send in grades bc I have 48 credits but Im considering it because the A’s in all the other classes could help, but does anyone think the W mixed in could make it a net loss?

It would look like this:

Calc III - A
General Chemistry I - A
Engineering Physics I - A
Engineering 101- W

I do not think one W will make any difference. As long as you haven’t repeatedly kept getting them.

Yeah, 3 technical courses in one semester means a lot of work. I’d send it.

so true. my 4.0 died that semester. Got a B in Cal2 then a couple more. Cal 3 was a breeze. Diff EQ? hardest class Ive ever taken. EVER.

Hopefully we get more responses this week

@MyUTAustin You are kidding right? If I know that three technical and okay to have one, I would drop one and still have 4 left rather than earning a A- Ughhhh

Hey guys, just wanted to know if you guys think I have a chance at COLA for spring 2016.

I have 28 credit hours, a 3.40 GPA (3.56 on scale without + and -) at University of Texas at Dallas. I’m trying to transfer into Government with Social Work as the second choice.

thank you.

If I don’t get in, it looks like I may end up being an Aggie (especially since I have a higher GPA under their system). :-?
