I was told by a few of my fellow friends that if you applied for the summer session and get admitted into that, that you may not be admitted during the Fall session. Does anyone know if this is true or have any insight into this issue?

If you apply for the summer, you're saying that you want to start in the summer. If you get in, you'll start in the summer and continue in the fall. Are you thinking that they WON'T let you continue in the fall if you start in the summer? That doesn't make sense...

Thats exactly what i said to the kid that told me that but he was convinced that you have to re-apply for the fall even if you get into summer, which makes no sense to me. If you're admitted in the summer why would you have to be re-admitted in the fall?

if you apply for the summer and are admitted or apply for the fall and are offered summer admission (which could happen as well) and accept either offer, you do not have to re-apply for the fall. you are a matriculated student.

i suppose if you bomb your two summer courses, you could be placed on academic probation, but would still be allowed to enter the fall term.

good luck to you. i hope you get accepted.

Lol your friend is either completely wrong or presenting his case incorrectly.

hahahahaha

Thanks for the help i will make sure to tell him he is an idiot

If you get accepted for the summer, can you later change your preference (fall)?

^^^ That I don't know about, but if you get accepted you can always ask. Good luck though.

Although starting in the summer (summer B) is really a great opportunity. Neither of my kids did, but after the fact, they say that they would have if they had known what they know now. It's a good opportunity to take a class or two, get to know the campus, and there are a LOT of students around in summer B, many activities, places to go, people to meet. It's a good introductory experience, and then in the fall when 50K people descend on the campus it isn't overwhelming (you're an 'old pro').

If you get accepted for Fall, it is no problem at all to decided to switch to summer. I know of three kids who did that last year. But, if you are accepted for SUMMER, you will not probably not able to start in Fall. Call admissions and check this but I am fairly sure that this is correct.

I agree with doubleplay and seiclan.

My Son and his roomate both wished that they had done summer also.
