Summer film at Tisch

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone on this board's done the summer film program at Tisch or other summer Tisch programs, and if they wished to share their experience with the program?

I applied for two summer film programs, Interlochen and NYU. My first choice for film school is NYU, and from what I hear, getting into the summer film program helps your chances of getting in to the college, so obviously I would choose the program at NYU over Interlochen. However, some of my friends from school have been telling me amazing things about Interlochen, all the people you meet, the experience, etc. I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on what the NYU summer film program is like, if they enjoyed it, how hard the classes were, etc. I'd also like to know if it's true that getting into/doing the summer film program and then applying ED to Tisch really boosts your chances of getting in. If anyone who's done the Tisch summer film program had thoughts, it would be really great. Thanks.

I'll try to address your questions/comments as best I can. My son attending the Summer Filmmaker's Workshop for High School students several years ago and found it to be a very rewarding experience. The professor and teaching assistants were amazing, the friendships he made with the other students in the program were wonderful, and each students was able to work in small groups making a music video and a short film (video) which was presented at a screening for their families at the end of the workshop. It is true that some of the students who participated in the workshop did apply to Tisch ED, and out of those applicants, some, but not all, were accepted, since it is a highly competitive program. My son did attend Tisch ED and has since graduated from the program, and he still remains friendly and works with many of the students from the workshop.
