Summer Financial Aid

The aid estimator won’t be available for months, but I need to know what I’ll do in the summer to know what I’ll do in the Spring.

I was planning on taking only 2 classes in the summer, 1 in each session, but I see that full-time means at least 6. Can I be sure I will get aid in the summer? Has anyone gotten summer aid before? How much should I expect? When will I know that I will be getting it?

Summer aid is ALL loans. Also, they will only give you what is equivalent to full financial aid during the regular school year is if you take 12 units. I know it sucks…

Definitely take CC classes instead, if possible. For me the difference between Davis summer classes and taking them at my local CC is ~$1500, and that’s not including gas/travel time. Just make sure it transfers as the class you need.

Personally I need to see a major advisor because the CC class I want to take normally only transfers as a “series for series” which could cause problems…

Does it say that on the Summer Session site? If its true, I don’t see why anyone would choose Summer Session over their local CC.

yeah i agree, but i heard that gpa doesn’t transfer over from cc to ucs…it’s all P/NP…

I think Summer Financial Aid does give out grants. For me, the Summer Aid Estimator gives a $2,000 grant and around $2,400 in loans for each Summer Session. The $2,000 just covers the tuition costs, barely. However, when taken books and living costs into account, it is better to go to a CC.
