According to the UT website:
Summer admission allows us to admit students who otherwise would not be admitted because of limited space for entering freshmen each fall.
Fall applicants may initially be disappointed to be offered summer admission, but almost all participants later report a highly-positive summer experience. The time spent on campus during the summer can ease the transition to college life and give students an advantage when the fall freshman class arrives.

However, I do know or know anyone who knows any students who have been required to study during the summer.
Just wondering to know if this is actually something that is a possibility.
