Summer Geometry on Transcript???

Hi, I’m a senior. I took Geometry in the summer after 8th grade… I got an A+ first semester (102% on the midterm) but I can’t remember if I got an A or A- second semester… all I remember is that I got an A- on the final. Should I put geometry on my HS transcript? It’ll lower my GPA if I got As both semesters and even more so if I got an A- second semester. BTW, I took AP Calc BC last year and AP Stats this year, so I’ve taken math classes every year of HS still. I’m applying to Ivies, Stanford, and the top UCs so I don’t want my UW and W GPAs to fall.

Thanks!

UCs do not count +/- for high school courses when recalculating GPA.

UCs also want to see that you took an actual geometry course (they no longer allow you to validate it with higher level courses or SAT subject tests), so you need to report it on the UC application. Assuming that you took geometry at a high school or college (as opposed to middle school), it will need to be on an appropriate transcript for eventual verification if you matriculate to a UC.

Here is more about the UC geometry requirement for frosh applicants: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/geometry-requirement-factsheet.pdf

Why not find out what your actual grade was before worrying about it?

I’m not allowed to see my actual grade, the high school that I took it at has to send it straight to my school and my counselor will then put it on my transcript without me being able to see the grades. It won’t affect my UC GPA since A-'s are As but it’ll lower my GPA for my Common App schools, so I’m stuck lol

Did you never get a report card from that high school after you finished the course? Why would grades be kept secret from students?

Order a transcript from that school sent to your home address to see the grade.

Since it is a high school course, you may need to send that high school transcript to every school that wants your transcripts.

For some reason, I never had the Geometry transcript sent to my high school that summer. Sadly, I can’t get it sent to my home address; I recently emailed the person in charge of summer classes and she said she can only mail it straight to my high school, after which it will be put on my HS transcript right away :frowning: And honestly, I probably did get a report card in the mail or email after the course was over but there’s no way I’m finding that now.

Can you just get another report card from that school?
