I am a student at FIU and I received a D+ in Physics 1. I am enrolled in Physics 2 and wasn’t dropped from it…yet… I can’t get anyone to call me back. I am curious, i know I have to retake physics one at some point to get a C or higher…But can I still continue with Physics 2 this Summer? On my transcript it says I passed it. I don’t want to continue to go to class if I am going to be dropped…

According to this page, a C or better is required in Physics 1:

[Physics Registration FAQs](http://www2.fiu.edu/~simpsonc/regis_faq.html)

Personally, I would retake it, regardless. If you are taking Physics 2, you are obviously in some kind of STEM field where a solid science background will be helpful.

I know I need to retake it… I was just trying to find out if I could finish phy 2 and then retake phy 1 later on…my advisor said a D+ is passing but in order to graduate I have to retake it…so I can stay in phys 2 :-)

It’s strange that you are not getting a callback. I would just keep calling them and try to find someone who can give you an authoritative answer.

He finally answered and said this.

.In principle, you should be dropped, but the system does not have the capacity to do so in the summer semester. It would actually be better for you to repeat physics I, while it is still fresh in your mind, rather than attempting physics II.

–I can’t take Phys 1 because it’s full, so I will repeat it later…plus I understand phys 2 more than phys 1 and was lucky enough to get the best professor…So I’m not dropping it…
