Is anyone else BURIED under summer homework? I seriously don't know how I'm going to get it all done while also being able to prepare a bit for next year (SATs, APs, etc.), go to work, and HAVE SOME FUN!

sorry I had to rant but I mean cmon, 5 books, journals/exercises on each one as well as about 500 pages to outline all togeather, and a paper due aug 1st...are ya kiddin me?

I don't know about buried, but yeah my APUSH teacher assigned 5+ essays over the summer, each due every other week or so. Besides that I don't have to much just have to read Beowulf for AP Eng Lang and write some stuff, and lots of bookwork for AP Stats, then there's volunteering, SAT studying, volleyball, etc.

But at least I have something to keep me busy.

I have to outline 7 chapters in my AP Biology book (each chapter is 20 pages and the font is small as hell), complete 28 worksheets on those 7 chapters (and I made the font smaller on them), answer discussion questions on those chapters, read 2 books for AP English Lit, study for the ACTs/SATs so I can actually get into a decent college because it's not looking that way now, work, volunteering... haha this summer is not fun! I shouldn't complain though, I signed up for these classes and knew all this before hand.

Wow, I feel a lot better about my workload after reading this.
I have to do one essay, read 6 books (4 of my choice--2 boring ones), and a bunch of AP physics assignments.
But it's more than or equal to the workload of anyone else in my grade though.

It seems like everyone's starting SAT Prep now on CC (now as in the summer b/w soph and jr years). Not in my school. I'm sensing some sort of disparity and I don't think I like it.

I just recieved 159 pages of notes for my APUSH textbook, from a friend who knows a guy, and it's soooooo awesome. No need to take notes, not that I took history notes anyway, and it helps with the summer assignments.

For IB summer hw, we have to read "Of Mice and Men" and do a packet that is worth 45 points. This probably isn't bad at all compared to what other people have to do.

you all should feel lucky that your teachers care enough about your education. that "500 page outline" could get your a 5/750+. so stop complaining, suck it up, and JUST DO THE WORK......SCHEECH!

Cut back on the AP classes. In the unlikely event that the admissions officers of the Ivy-type schools show up to chew you out, tell them they can stick the Academic Performance Kool-Aid somewhere that the sun doesn't shine.

I can't believe so many of you seem to think so much summer homework is normal. I graduated from high school in 1992, and summer homework was largely unheard of, even for Honors/AP students.

I'm glad that I'm not in high school today. Even though I was salutatorian, AP Scholar with Honor, National Merit Finalist, and the biggest Academic Performance Cult Kool-Aid drinker back in the early 1990s, I'd NEVER make it in today's high school environment. I'd get crushed like Nicole Richie in a mosh pit.

I have 5 books to read (one of which I've already read--YAY!), I've got to keep on top of U.S. News (which I haven't been doing lately...-_-), and prepare a lesson plan for debate.

five books? that it? ya I have five books w/ notes and paper paper for each, a hist book and journals/chap, 6 articles w/ reaction/ea, one science book w/ paper + calculus, lol, your lucky

That much summerwork is ridiculous. Having recently graduated high school I can say I never had summerwork. You need to have time to relax and refresh. Just like muscles, your brain has to be given rest. Some of the stuff you guys are saying is more than I ever had to do over a whole semester.
