Summer Homework

That's true. When doing things in the summer, sometimes it's even worse. You're also doing assignments for teachers you haven't had yet, so you don't know what they are specifically looking for or how they will grade it...I hate that!

yeah, I mean for one teacher they might think you're a genius and another teacher can think it's a bunch of crap!

I know they mean for it to be spread out over the summer so we don't get brain-dead, but we just cram it in the last week and it makes almost no difference. And literature assignments especially, we don't even really learn anything!

haha that's true soccer! I don't really learn squat from summer homework except how to crunch 5 assignments into 2 weeks

heh, I’m lucky. The only summer hw I have is to read one book (The Grapes of Wrath).

I honestly think summer homework is good, only if it actually helps. A book for an english class is good. My US homework for summer before junior year was to research 10 supreme court cases that were part of the curriculum but only needed like 10 minutes to go over in class since we did it in the summer. My AP Chem hw this summer is half dumb. We have to go to a museum and hunt for jems and jewels that have an element we were each assigned and then make a poster board. -_-

So yeah, only stuff that actually helps >_>

I only have reading for summer homework, but what’s truly frustrating is the specific multiple-choice tests you have to take when you get back. What if I read a book in mid-June? How am I supposed to remember details in late August, especially if I read two other books after that one?

The only thing I have to do is finish “The Book of Lost Things”, which is extremely boring.

Beowulf and Grendel. Kinda hating both…

For AP Lit, we needed to read two out of six books and write a two page essay on it.

My school can be ridiculous on summerwork. I think the amount is absurd; some teachers are lazy @ my school.

honors english:
3 books, 1 essay and 1 logbook

apush:
3 chapters, define 100 key terms, a packet of information to fill out, a book (you pick one from a list ranging from 200 pages - 1000 pages. I think we’re all doing the 200 page book) + a book report

ap psych:
buy and read one of the listed books, write a huge essay/report
define like 50 terms from the first chapter

rest of my classes are reasonable
