i am concerned with living in a residence hall. is it any noisier/distracting as the school year? would i need to study outside of my room in order to concentrate? i have really big problems with noise... currently i live in RT so i feel that i wont adjust well.

i have no choice because my relatives live too far away so i can't commute and i am staying for summer session a and session c, both 6 weeks. so i cannot stay in saxon suites. :(

sooo...the apartments? i cannot cook... but maybe it is a good tradeoff to live in a quiet one person studio and have to get my own food rather than living in a place with food but in an enviro i don't favor.

i should have posted this earlier. maybe the housing i want is filling up quickly?

hmm…last year i stayed in saxon for session A and it was awesome because it’s quiet yet social at times (it’s packed full of athletes)

but since you can’t stay in saxon, im guessing your best bet is getting an apartment. I’m pretty sure someone will let you sublet for the summer. You may even be able to purchase a meal plan, but iono how this works for summer.

another option is to get saxon for session A (not sure, but i think you can get saxon even if you are doing a six week for session A) and sublet for session C. That’s only if you REALLY don’t want to live in Reiber (which is understandable because res halls suck).

btw, i didnt even know that saxon was closed for session C

Yea, I’d recommend staying in apartments; it’s comparatively cheaper than Rieber.

I went from Hitch -> Rieber, and hall life wasn’t bad really, but I was stuck on a floor with high school students (please tell me that you’re legal). It all depends on what roommates/dormmates/floormates you get. You can always go to the lounge, or to Anderson to study.

I still wouldn’t recommend staying 2 sessions if you can’t go home much. It got rough for me near the last 4 weeks, but it’s manageable.

When do people start signing up for the summer classes??? I’m thinking of taking summer classes at UCLA but I don’t even know where I’m going for college yet…

what’s the hurry?
besides what if your classes conflict with your orientation session? i don’t recommend taking summer classes this soon unless it’s through one of those early-college programs. no idea what the name of it is, but i had a friend who did it (i think they do session C).
