Summer in NYC: resource ideas

I hope folks here can off some suggestions for myself and D for how to find out about a/the wide range of theatre activities in NYC. D was accepted to Alvin Ailey's summer dance program. The dance aspects of the program are clear and set, but they do not have planned activities for the kids (mostly because the majority of the participants are 18+) in the evenings and weekends.

D obviously knows about taking extra dance classes, but I wondered if those of you in NYC or with kids in NYC can give some specific ideas for how she could find out about things like- off broadway shows, drama/voice classes, learn about what life is like living in the city as a performer ... now i can think of other types of ideas.

D will only be 16, which is likely to limit some of what she can do since she won't have a parent there. Even though husdban and I lived in NYC it was decades ago and we weren't really looking for theatre activities.

Any ideas would be great.

My d (when 16) did the AA program last summer. I'll ask her if she would mind a call/email from your d.
