Summer Intern Housing and Parking Questions

Hello All-

I am working this summer for a company that is providing housing through BU. I’m not a student at BU, so this is like a seperate program from their summer housing. I have heard that it will be somewhere on South Campus, but nothing else. If anyone could answer a few questions for me I would really appreciate it!

I’m confident that parking isn’t provided, but I need my car (I have to travel out of state multiple times over the summer) so where should I look for parking? Allston? Will BU let me buy a permit? Do you have recommendations for garages?

What is the housing like? I know we will have a kitchen, but do we have one bathroom for 4 girls? Air conditioned? Shared bedrooms? Laundry in building? I’m sure all of this sounds silly, but I’m used to having my own bedroom and sharing a bathroom with one other girl!

Is there a gym on campus I could use? If not, what ones are nearby?

Thank you again!

What school are you coming from? You will have such a great time in Boston - I talked to a summer intern last summer from a small liberal arts college and she was in heaven!

I will let others speech for 1 and 2, but in terms of #3, the gym is gorgeous. It is called FitRec, and is at the west end of campus closest to the Allston end. Just in case you haven’t discovered it yet, the public transportation within the immediate Boston area is wonderful - the “T” train goes straight through the middle of the BU campus along Commonwealth Avenue all the way to the downtown Boston area.

Can you give us an idea where you will be working? Also, you might want to consider looking at GoCar if you are working downtown and living at BU, especially if you only leave a few times a summer. That is a car that you reserve for the days/hours you need it.

If you’re in South Campus you probably won’t have air conditioning. Some of the rooms are 2 bedrooms, some are 3-so it depends on the room whether you’ll be sharing a bathroom with one person or up to three others. Boston is awesome in the summer though! I’m sure you’ll have a blast. Also, there is parking behind most of the South apartments…but you’ll need to buy a permit from BU.
