Summer Internships/Temp Jobs in New York City?

I'm a sophomore at the University of Kentucky, and I've been thinking about interning in New York City over the summer. Since this sort of thing probably matters, I'm double majoring in Biology and English, with a possible minor in Psychology. I didn't have a very good first semester, but I've since improved and am now an above average student, and am constantly improving. I've flirted heavily with the idea of going to med school, but even if not, I still plan to get my master's in either Bio or English. I also hope to go to grad school at Columbia.

Now, and please refrain from the "y r u wanting 2 do columbia ur grades have 2 b gud and u cant get in2 med school unless ur awsum" posts that are so typical of this board, does anyone know of any internship (or any sort of paying activity that I could only be obliged to for about two months) in New York City? If the right thing comes up, I am not totally resigned to doing something not very related to my field of study, as long as it pays well and may somehow still apply to me (a filing job at Columbia Presbyterian, for example). I figure it will be up to me to contact these places, but if anyone can point me in the right direction, or if anyone knows of any website that might help, that would be nice. Feel free to email me, since I know there is some rule about naming websites on here.

Thanks

Come on, couldn't someone at least venture a guess? :)

Go do some research for yourself, there are so many opportunities here in NYC that you'll be able to find everything you need with a quick look around the internet. For example, try looking at the University Hospitals of Columbia and Cornell.

Your first stop should be the career services office at your school because some internship oportunites will come in through them.

Unless you have someone to stay with that is going to virtually charge you no rent, housing could eat up most of the money that you make from your intern ship. If you are staying with someone in NYC, you could ask them to get the names of a few temp agencies and scout out a few places for you
