Summer job help needed

What are some nontraditional places to look for jobs this summer? It's so hard to find a summer job these days because everyone is applying. I am trying to look for places other than the usual retail places like restaurants and stores. Any suggestions on where I might look? I'm 17 by the way.

Maybe look for receptionist or secretarial work in a office?

When you walk in and ask for an application, ask about the procedure. Does the company do immediate interviews? I am hiring for summer and I had a girl walk in today, hand me a completed application, and walk out. She could have interviewed with the boss (me) on the spot. Now, she's not even going to get an interview.

Be nice to anyone talking with you at the company; they probably have some (if not a LOT) of input on the summer help.

And please -- dress nicely, like you already work at the company. I am so not interested in the short shorts and cami look in a job applicant.

Temp agency; stuff out in the heat that people won't want to do (window washing, lawn mowing, etc); and babysitting can be a great gig if your parents have any friends with younger children that need to be driven around to actitivies and watched
