summer jobs that at least partially use your brain

Now, if it will come down to the fact that this summer at least in my area, the only summer employment for teens involved being a MickeyD's cashier or a car wash attendant, I won't mind. I would take those jobs anyway. But, for most of you, is it easy to find jobs that at least partially use what you've been studying? I'm not sure if it's my area, or maybe I just suck at job searching -_-.

Note this isn't a question of how comfortable the job is. If summer employment in the construction industry [if that's even a plausible idea] involved, say, doing integral calculus and laying concrete foundations for 10 hours a day in the sun, that counts. Or something plausible like that.

No way. Aren't you studying general/college-prep high school? Last summer I clerked at a dental clinic. This summer I will clerk in an administrative department of a hospital. I can't see myself doing this type of work long-term. Lots of filing, running errands, answering phones, showing people to the x-ray room, and more filing, etc. I am the most unorganized person. Maybe in college I can get an internship in an area I am interested in. For now, I just take what I can get.

Yeah, good luck with your search.... Realize though, it's just for the summer! If you're just graduating hs, I doubt you'll be able to find something that integrates it. Wait until after college.

My job rots my brain. But, the money makes up for it.

"doing integral calculus"

pfft

you dont need your brain for that

ohh snap

honestly, working at starbucks. there's so much to learn. esp when it comes to bar and making drinks - most are really different. anything along those lines where you have to learn something completely new and do it constantly.

If you have a nearby college, try to get an internship/research position there. They will usually give you a "small" stipend (but if you look at how many hours you worked, it works out to be much higher than minimum wage) :)
