Summer Jobs: What are you doing?

Making minimum wage working part-time at a pet-store, and doing a part-time paid internship building community gardens with a local environmental group. I’m excited. :)

Making $8 (california minimum wage) four hours a day at Burlington Coat Factory.
Boring.

Update: I’ve still been having no luck finding a job. I’ve applied to 11 different places across 4 different cities/towns, from the movie theatre to restaurants to Old Navy, and I’ve had no luck. I have a couple more places I’m going to try, but if I don’t have a job by early July, I’m just going to have to find someplace to volunteer just so I have SOMETHING to add to my resume… :(

unpaid internship with Lucky magazine at Conde Nast.
like everyone at Conde Nast, I get a wonderfully generous $12/day stipend. which comes out to a little more than $1/hour.

I know, you’re all insanely jealous

alamode - Internships often lead to a job so it will probably pay off for you. It’s also easier to negotiate if you’re a good intern. They’ll be willing to give you the extra 3-5K because they know you’ll be a good employee, vs a dice roll on another applicant who’s brand new.

These are at least the lies I told myself when I was dragging through my internship, (it turned into an 8K boost for me btw) I hope it helps haha.

I wish I got paid $1 an hour! Lol, that’s kind of funny! Oh well, it’s something I guess…

siemprecuriosa I know how you feel, I never could find a job and quite frankly I gave up. It helps that I now have a 5-day a week internship, but it really was that hard to find a job. There was hardly anywhere hiring to begin with to apply to :frowning: So hang in there! I know how frustrating it is feeling like you’re accomplishing nothing, but honestly I don’t think anyone would be too hard on us students these days for not being able to find a summer job. Everyone knows how hard it is to find a job out there, and it’s even harder for students with little work experience who are only available for a few months at a time.
