where are you guys working at over the summer?

I'm still looking...turned in 19 apps though!

Camp counseling

I just quit my job at Target (pronounced tar-JAY w/ a soft j) and I'm so excited it's not even funny :-)

how many apps are generally a good idea to fill out? 19? so far i've done 3

It depends on what chances you have of getting a job. Many places I applied wouldn't even say if they were actually hiring or not, and others said it would take at least two weeks before hearing back. Three may do it, but it always increases your chances to apply for more.

I'm serving (waitressing). It's a great job, flexible hours, incredible pay, especially for an entry level job, and restaurants need more people in summer so it's no big deal when you leave in the fall.

a lot of my friends got jobs at hotels in my area (I live in Orange County, CA so tourism - in the beach cities where i live anyway - is huge). They worked at the St. Regis, Ritz Carlton, Montage, etc. as bellmen, receptionists at the spa and such. Starbucks was also a popular choice. I didn't actually work during high school, and only started once I got to college.

I've got a local barnes and noble opening up, so I might apply there. Job is easy, pay is decent, and I get discounts on books. The discounts alone, are worth it. hehe

I'm working in the game store where I've been working for the last 2 years.

grocery store as a cashier making $9 an hour.

Lifeguarding at the pool for my 2nd year in a row.

wo0t! Im lifeguarding for my first year making big moneeee 9$ an hour

did i mention its only for the weekend too

Lifeguarding, ehhh no lab. damn.

No idea. Possibly just getting a job around here, possibly doing trail maintenance out in Washington. I'm going to be training heavily for cross-country wherever I am, but I might do some backpacking too.

Whoa, $9/hr as a grocery store cashier??? That's insane (in a good way).

tell me about it. it's probably becuase its on an air force base and technically i'm a Department of Defense (so obviously federal) employee. its the easiest job. free food sometimes, air conditioned, meet people, push buttons...what's easier.

What are some places I could get a job that, that are related to the stock market? I mean places like AG Edwards, Washington Mutual ect.

i've never had a job before.. like ZERO experience.. any ideas/helpful hints to find a first job for this summer? i've been looking but it feelings like nobody wants to hire someone who hasn't had any experience.

I just put in an application for America West, loading luggage and other menial ground detail

the flight benefits rock all, though

CVS! Everytime I've gone there, there have only been like 5 people max in the store. It's gonna be so EASY!

curiouskatie, everyone has to start at some point with no experience. just be enthusiastic about whatever job you're trying to get and that will do a great deal to overcome any lack of experience.
