Has anybody done the Middlebury Summer Language Boot Camp? What was your experience? How bout financial aid? Were you able to jump ahead when you got back to your college language program? I'm considering doing the chinese program.

I am applying to the German program. My professor told me about a student with no prior experience in a foreign language, who placed to the highest level upon returning from Middlebury.

I also had a friend who took Russian at Middlebury. She was placed in 2nd semester first year Russian (should've been first semester second year... but thanks to the slow department...) and when she came back, she was ready for third year Russian. She loved every minute of it even though it was difficult at beginning because she didn't have strong oral communication. Definitely recommended.

wow that was quick...nspeds, i thought you had to have a year of your language under your belt before attending. not so???

No, if I am not mistaken. I am looking through the application right now, and it suggests that students should have at least one year of college completed by the time they start the program.

Butp (Bring Up This Post). I am interested in hearing more about this program.

check it out....click on the language youre interested in for more info. It's an immersion program.

Oh, I read that already. I was hoping that some students would post their experiences.

If I was going for Russian, I'd personally opt for Bryn Mawr over Middlebury.

Screenname - Why Bryn Mawr? Are they better in Russian or in other languages too?
