Summer Leadership Programs at Deloitte, PWC, E&Y, and KPMG?????

Are the hard to get into? Should I try to get into all 4, or is that overkill? How do they help you/what are they all about?

Try all of them.

You should absolutely try! They extend an internship offer for the following summer to most if not all who attend these summer leadership programs. Also, a disproportionate number of their permanent hires come from this group of candidates. Cannot overemphasize the advantage that these programs offer.

Definitely try for them all. They are lots of fun and you meet some really great people. You also get an early interview for an internship, so it does give you a heads up. And you can get a good feel for if you really click with the culture of the firm.

someone deleted my post. weird.

my question. would you apply for these veryy early? or can I still apply for this summer now? I coulnd’t find anything on specific app procedures.

These applications were due ages ago.

You typically apply in the spring of the year before your going to intern. If your planning on doing a 5th year after your junior year and if your planning on doing it in 4 years that after sophomore year. You can usually do them through your school or if you have the contact info of the recruiter for your school you can email them about it. I think you can also apply for some online through the company website.

These firms typically interview on campus in March so if they are coming to your school, be sure to get your resume and/or application submitted during January. In the case of KPMG, they select about 100 students from across the country for their 3-day Fast Forward program in Hollywood, CA. A much larger group is selected to attend events throughout the summer following sophomore year at their local KPMG office. Not aware that E&Y breaks the selected candidates into these two groups but they do choose a pool of students who have completed sophomore year to attend a summer program at their local offices.

i’m pretty excited to be attending both deloitte’s and e&y’s slp this summer! i’m a rising junior, btw.

the big 4 actively recruit at my school, and i interviewed for them in the spring semester (around march-april) through the internship board our business school provides for all undergraduates. it was a pretty simple process - i just electronically submitted my resume, they “prescreen” (i’m guessing people with a sub-par GPA weren’t accepted, since my friend with a much more diverse and qualified resume than mine was screened out but his gpa was .2 lower), select you for an interview, and you meet with one of their senior managers or HR reps. the interview wasn’t stressful at all either, they basically ask you why you’re interested in the firm, accounting… they don’t expect you to have heaps of experience already, since they only hire mostly juniors as interns.

so would this be better then getting an accounting internship at a small firm or for a private company?

liore, these programs are “externships” not internships, meaning they last for only a few days during the summer following your sophomore year. The idea is that they give you the inside track on getting an internship for the following summer after your junior year. If at all possible, you will want to get a true internship (at a small firm or private company) during the summer following sophomore year AND attend one or more of these externships during that same summer.

How many were accepted into the program and what do you think the range of GPA’s were?

For the KPMG Fast Forward program the minimum GPA was 3.6.

what’s the deadline for the four programs, seems like I can’t quite find the deadline for the Fast Forward program on the KPMG website

The ideal situation is to contact your campus recruiter for each of the Big 4 firms. If you don’t have their names, ask the career office in your business school.

I would also like to learn more about these programs.
When do you apply, what are they looking for, etc.

Just giving this a bump

i got an interview. i thought it went alright. pretty easy. how long did it take to hear back? Did ou get a letter, a call or email?

**I attended PwC’s Summer Leadership Program last summer as a 3rd year at a community college. I also attended many of their events that they emailed me about (I guess because my contact information was in their system).

I have a first round interview tomorrow for PwC for their summer internship, and an interview on Thursday for KPMG’s internship. I didn’t get an interview for E&Y because I’m not taking a certain class that they require for all internship applicants (Intermediate Accounting; classes were so impacted that I couldn’t get in). And I didn’t get a reply from Deloitte…

My question is: Do I have a good chance of landing an internship with PwC (even though I haven’t taken that one class that E&Y required me to take)? I attended a meeting at my school where some of the students said that Intermediate Accounting is required for an internship, but why was I not screened from PwC or KPMG? Could it be because it didn’t show on my transcript (even though it didn’t show, the E&Y recruiter personally emailed me asking if I have taken it or not)?**

morganrichman, you have an interview with deloitte?

What kind of questions did they ask, if you don’t mind? (behavioral, resume-based, etc.) Only asking this bc I missed the deadline for deloitte…

Oh and do you guys know if summer leadership programs have second-round interviews?
