Summer Music Camps!

What are some good music camps both in the us AND in europe

Ones that are for sophomores in college....!

People get so used to seeing the “stickies” they forget they’re there. ;)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/510498-music-festival-master-list.html

Pretty much has most of them, but new ones are added, and alas, some fall by the wayside. Try searching “summer” and you’ll find a few more threads, but the Master is fairly comprehensive. There’s also a link to the “freebies” within the Master

OK…this may sound “funny” but by the time kids are sophomores in college they are more likely to be applying to summer music PROGRAMS than to CAMPS. Camp implies a summer recreational aspect to the program There are some wonderful summer music camps for middle/high school kids (my kids went to New England Music Camp in Maine…it’s great). By the time DS was in college he was going to places like Eastern Music Festival and Aspen…hardly a “camp” atmosphere.

Is the OP looking for a music festival type of program? If so, the sticky Violadad provided is a good resource. If the OP is looking for a “camp” well…I think that sticky isn’t going to be very helpful at all. I’m quite sure most of these places do not want to be referred to as camps.

I still call 'em camps. Helps to keep the kids humble.

Of course you’re right, Thump, but usually I’m talking to relatives who know nothing about music, but only want to know what my kid is doing. So if I say he’s at a “festival” they think he’s at a party - or “attending” something rather than participating, and if I say he’s at a program, they think he’s in summer school. While both of those images might be closer to the truth, the idea of “camp” conveys that they are spending the summer away from home in pursuit of more music - often with nature involved, even if not really roughing it. They understand “camp”.

And then there is my D, who really IS at a camp. (But not for music.)

ok camp or festival or whatever you want to call it…I just would like to pick from a plethora of different types(places)

Ilovetheflute…do as Violadad suggested…look at the top of the threads in this music forum and you will see the thread “Music Festival Master List”. It’s has a plethora of different types of festivals/camps whatevers…in all different locations.
