Summer music festivals 2021

It shouldn’t be so hard, but it is! I insisted on my D following the dress code. I was sure it would be enforced. We shopped and packed with that in mind. Very challenging! In truth, there was a fair amount of variation. Saw it with my own eyes, and I am routinely reminded by my D that I was the ONLY one to take the dress code seriously. :woman_facepalming::rofl: I would guess that the younger ages follow it more closely…

All of that to say…try your best. Get as close as you can, but try not to sweat it too much. Hope your musician has a FANTASTIC experience! :slightly_smiling_face:

Wow I’ve been out of the loop this spring around here! Good to see that summer festivals are happening. My violin daughter (NEC) got a spot at Norfolk this summer and we are so excited (everyone give a cheer for fellowship programs!). It’s her first fellowship and she is so proud, as are we. She leaves on the train for CT next week. She already has her chamber music assignments and they are quite nice. They are only doing string and piano and the camp will be very small. All have to be vaccinated, negative tests before travel and a short quarantine when they arrive.

So for anyone who finds this for summer 2022, NEMF chamber music intensive is an absolute hidden gem. The teachers were world lass (at least for woodwinds), the surroundings were beautiful and the camp was wonderfully run. Most kids were state band or precollege members and really excited and eager musicians. My S24 was very hesitant to go after a not so great experience at PIMF and is ready to sign up for next year today!
