Will there be scholarships available to help cover for the tuition cost of this Late-summer course? I saw it was around $2,000 + $1,700 (dorms) for just 6 hours of credit. If so, how do I apply for such scholarships. I did summit the OSFA for summer 2011 and another one for fall/spring 2011-2012. Also can someone explain what 6 hrs credit is? I know this means I can only take 2 classes, but why would I need 5 weeks to attend 6 hrs of courses?

If you are in-state, you likely qualify for HOPE. Link: [Georgia Institute of Technology :: Financial Aid :: HOPE Scholarship](<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Financial Aid”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Financial Aid)

Also, check out FAFSA which offers federal student aid (low interest loans, scholarships, etc.). Link: [Home - FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid](http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/)

The way credit hours work is that 1 credit hour equates to 1 hour of instructional time per week. So, if you have a 3 hour course, you would have 3 hours of instructional time (excluding recitation) per week.

It mostly works this way - with the exception of classes with labs. For ex: Physics, Chemistry or Biology all require labs where you get 3 hours of credit for the class and 1 hour of credit (meet 3 hours per week) for the lab. But, you get one grade for the entire course. For classes with labs, you need to read the syllabus.
