Next summer I'm thinking about taking Pre-Calculus online through Kaplan depending on the prices and our finances that year. Has anyone else been through Kaplan, and if so is it any good? Is it worth the money, and does the average school put it on a transcript. I don't really care if I get a credit per se for it, as long as they don't make me take pre calculus the following year. I just want to get a year advanced. Does anyone know it its worth it?

You might want to consider taking the online class through your local community college instead.

Oh ok.

Actually I was thinking about that, but I'm unable to get a liscense. Long story there, dealing with vision and what not, so I wouldn't be able to get myself there and back on a regular basis. My mother works shifts that would conflict with that also, and there's no running transit from where I live (nor walking distance from where I live :)) to that area of the town(s). (I'm in an area where several towns are all smashed together with very little distinction inbetween.)

If you take the online class through a college, you don't attend classes at the college. The work is done on your computer. No driving and you never have to set foot on the campus.

Oh. I thought you were meaning actually taking classes at the campus. Sorry, I'm exhausted. It's already been a long day. :)

Thanks for the idea. I'm not positive any schools in my area offer any online programs. (I'm in an area that doesn't have strong educational resources.) I'll have to go check now. Thanks.

The beauty of doing an online class is that you can take one at most colleges. It doesn't have to be from a local college. Check out one of your instate public universities. Go onto their website and check out the Registrar page. It should have a listing of the online courses available (or it will direct you to the correct page). You can send the Registrar an email or you can call them and ask how to go about signing up for the class. It's not a complicated procedure and it might be a good solution. If you're a motivated student, it's a great way to earn college credits. I say that you need to be motivated because you will need to be responsible for doing the work on time without having a teacher reminding you to complete your work.
