Summer Options...Need Help

I’m going to be a senior next year and I really need to some help planning out what do over the summer. I am looking for advice on what would be best from both a personal experience point of view and admissions point of view.

Right now, I see myself going into business down the road, and am looking to apply to the ivy-level schools.

I have three options:

All three would include an internship at a financial firm (so I’m definetly going to do that)

My first option is do my internship and also take an economics course at a top college. (I have a couple options) Also I will try to fit a part-time job in there somewhere.

My second option is to do my internship and instead do an independent research project and enter in a competition like Siemens or Intel. I have some very good ideas, and I feel that if I dedicate myself to a project I would reach the semi-finalist round.

I do my internship and take up some business project (like opening a business). The problem with this is that I wouldn’t really have much time to develop the business by the time of college apps and I feel it would seem like much more of a gimmick. I would very much like do some project with business or economics or something related, but I honestly cannot think of any other thing I could do besides starting my own business. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Now, I feel that option 2 is probably the best from an admissions standpoint. But the only thing is that I don’t plan to apply or major in science or engineering. (i do want to study it at some level in college, but not make it the focus of my career) I am concerned that it would leave my app very disjointed and seem like I am trying to get accepted and study one thing, while my extracurricular and summer activities support another. I would love to do something with business or economics to get recognized, but I don’t know any possibilities.

So again, any advice is greatly appreciated. This is my last summer and my last chance to really add something important in my application and besides that, really delve and study something I am interested in. I am interested in sciences but I am not sure if I should try and pursue that this summer if my ultimate goal is business.

Bump (10 chars)

I hate doing this, but I really need some help ;) (bump)

er, i would probably go for the first one. It would kind of make the impression that you are really a motivated student and want to learn more. plus, the second one is based on chance more; if you don't make it to the semi-finals or something close, it holds no weight. And you might have a good idea, but how good is it going to be compared to everyone else in the competition, who actually wants to major in engineering.
Or you can go with my plan and have a relaxing summer with a internship on the side.
