summer options

hey everyone!

so i really need some help here

im a gr 11 student from toronto, canada! if you want any more info on me like marks and stuff check out the link below:

originally, i was SUPPOSED to do an astrobiology internship at Ames Research Centre in california this summer with NASA. unfortunately, though, due to health reasons, I won’t be able to go and have had to give up my position.

so right now, im debating whether or not to stay at home, or to do a program. what ive been looking at is the Harvard Secondary School Summer Program, which would also give me harvard credit.

so as you can see from my list above, there are a lot of top American schools that im gonna be applying to

and the reason that this is in the college admissions thread is that would that program be beneficial to my resume? or would I be better off at home, preparing for senior year, and working on my new charity, “no reservations required” which sets up regularly gourmet food and dinners for homeless people, especially homeless youth? would the program at Harvard and getting that credit really add that much to my application?

thanks so much for looking!

whoops, didn’t copy the link mentioned above!

I don’t think that taking summer courses will be that beneficial to your resume, and college courses are usually hit or miss (maybe it will be too hard, or too easy, or not as interesting as you thought it would be, or you’ll get a bad professor, etc.), even at Harvard. Plus, if you don’t get into Harvard, you won’t get credits towards Harvard. The main benefits, I think, are getting a feel for the campus, meeting people, exploring the surrounding area, etc. You should save your time and money to work on your charity, especially if it’s really new and you haven’t done much with it…
