What do Princeton kids typically do during the summer? Some of the things I'm interested in are:

-Research over the summer leading to publications?
-Internships
-Study abroad (I know there's no official one over the summer) or something of this sort?
-Summer classes
-Where do you stay during the summer if dorms are closed?

Some popular options for freshmen:

[ul]
[]Princeton in Beijing (PIB): summer study abroad for those taking Chinese, covers a year's worth of material in eight weeks
[]Princeton Internships in Civil Service (PICS): 10 week internships funded through the Class of '69 Community Service Fund (approximately 70 internships)
[li]Research: Princeton's Physics, Chemistry, and Molecular Biology departments have a variety of summer research opportunities for freshmen through seniors. Many students pursue undergraduate research opportunities at other universities.[/ul]
[/li]

Sophomores and juniors often get corporate internships or pursue research for their independent work. Internships are harder to come by as a freshman, but it's definitely doable.

Princeton housing is available during the summer.
