I will be applying to UCF for the 2012 term, but I can't decide if I want to do summer or fall. I think I'm leaning towards the summer term because it gives me time to get used to everything before masses of people get there. I also hear that applying for the summer term is "easier" to get into than the fall, anyone with experience have any truth to that? And with a 3.4 unweighted and a 3.7 weighted GPA, a 26 (retook, get results in a week), and always taking hard classes, would that give me a good shot into UCF summer term?

Thanks.

I recommend summer term just because UCF is so unpredictable and I regret not applying for summer term, but if you apply early you should be able to get into Fall. Yes it is “easier” to get into summer term though. There’s less demand for summer term and the test scores needed to get in are lower although they don’t have any minimum test score requirements or anything. But the middle ranges are lower for summer. If UCF is your number one I’d apply for summer. Good luck!

Thank you MayDay, and yes UCF is my number one choice, so I will be applying for the summer term. I hope I get in because I visited campus this week and I don’t think I will find another college campus that will beat that. Thanks again!

Don’t be ashamed to apply for the Summer term just because it’s “easier”. Here are the pros:

1) You get used to the campus before most students.
2) Not as high in demand.
3) You complete parts of your degree earlier than everybody else.

I have a 4.149 Unweighted GPA and other good stats but I decided to apply for the summer because I wanted to get a head start.

Thanks for the response and yes I too realized the better options summer had. I get to feel what college classes are like before the 48,000 + kids are there at once, so I’m going to apply for the summer term. I hope I get in!
