No responses when I posted this on the "Study Abroad" board - - hoping for at least a nibble from the parents:

D would love to go abroad either during winter intersession (3 weeks) or during the summer. She doesn't speak a foreign language and isn't interested in language immersion programs. Also, she had a rough first year and is, therefore, inelig for programs requring a 3.0 gpa.

Can anyone suggest programs in English-speaking countries or with English instruction, and no gpa requirement - - preferably offering art/arch/landscaping-related courses.

UC Irvine has a summer study-abroad program open to students from other colleges. It's a roughly 5 week long program and there are a number of countries to choose from. The courses are taught in English. The requirement is that the student be over 18 and "in good academic standing" (which usually means gpa > 2.0)

I have found a few offerings, primarily programs at state unis (SUNY, Rutgers, etc.). And I'm always checking for the magic phrase: "students in good academic standing."

Have you checked the school's own Study Abroad office. Two of my kids attend(ed) 4-1-4 schools. Their winter programs (3 weeks in January) were internal only.
One consideration, as the deadline looms and 1 or 2 more students are needed for the program to fly, often the minimum requirements may be waived.

D's school doesn not offer a January or the summer programs and her school sponsored semester and year-long programs require a 3.0 gpa (as do many programs sponsored by other colleges/unis).
