Summer Orientation Sessions (SLO Days)

Has anyone received an email or seen on the Cal Poly website any opportunity to sign up for SLO Days? Like to get dates nailed down for my son but so far no opportunities (that I can see) to sign up. What are we missing?

@SCVPilot, I don’t think you are missing anything. Registration hasn’t opened yet. The language on the registration page keeps shifting and now says it will open in “Late Spring”. It also says that new students will receive an email when they can register. We’re waiting too!

We’re waiting too. The website originally said Mid March. Not sure why they delayed it. As an ED admit, I was hoping my son could take advantage of choosing his session early.

As far as I can tell, still nothing…?

My son received information that said registration would open today (5/20) for Regular Decision students. One place said after 9 am and another said after 5 pm. He has tried the link several times, but gets an “incorrect username” error. Has anyone else either had this problem or successfully registered?

Seems like it’s working now.

@BerkeleyMom Make sure you clear your cache in your browser. My son was getting error messages until he cleared his cache, and then he was able to see the link and register.

@ocgolfdad, thanks. He was able to register after he received a text saying that registration was open. It was on his phone, though, so now I’m curious whether it would have worked earlier on his computer. Doesn’t matter really, since he’s all set now for SLO Days and WOW.

Does anyone know what the schedule is for supporters/parents ? Not sure if it is worth it to go to this or if my freshman should just drive to SLO w/friends who are also attending in the fall…

Do all new students have to do orientation? Or is this just for freshman? Thanks!

@1andonly: My sister attended last year with her daughter (my niece) and as a parent they had many separate activities such as a city tour and wine tasting along with specific talks about financial aid, general school policies, housing.

@achase128: It is recommended to attend orientation for all new students (Freshman and Transfers) but it is up to you if you feel it will be worthwhile.

According to the website it is mandatory even for transfers. But I sure hope there are exceptions. I don’t have $100 to pay someone to tell me how to enroll in classes. And wow, WOW is expensive too.
