Summer Orientation

I haven't registered for an orientation date yet because I have yet to pay for the enrollment deposit fee for UT, but I'm positive that I will be attending the school.

However, I just heard from my friend that all of the summer orientation dates are full. So my question is, do I have to attend fall orientation, or is there some way that I'll be able to get into one of the summer ones?

I'm super worried about this, so any feedback would be really appreciated. :/ Thanks in advance!

it depends on your school within UT whether the dates are all filled yet or not!

Is the orientation mandatory for the incoming freshmen yet? I have heard that UT has a plan to make orientation mandatory in the future as one of ways to improve four-year graduation rate. That said, I would think they would try to accommodate all students who wish to attend orientation. Just sign up as soon as you make your decision.

it’s mandatory for freshmen this year.

Summer orientation isn’t mandatory. You can still attend fall orientation.

Nonetheless, I just checked the orientation dates. Only the first two are filled, but it might depend on your major.

I can’t pay because they don’t take Visa…only Mastercard, Discover, and American Express…so…I don’t know what to do. I want to go to an early one to get good teachers  I don’t know how to pay!

Do your parents or other close relatives have one of those cards? If so, you can ask to borrow theirs and pay them back.

I have VISA myself. I wonder know why they don’t take them.

what they dont take visa?!?!?!
what about paypal? lol

i dont think my family has had a mastercard in years?

can we go pay the fee in person somewhere?
I live about 20 minutes away from downtown austin

as soon as i get accepted(or rejected) i want to sign up for the asap so i can get an early one

I meant orientation is mandatory, if you don’t go the one in June or July you have to go to the shorter august one

if you go online to the orientation website it will probably tell of the payment methods

Did you happen to read this part of the Dean of Students Orientation website?:
By check or money order:
Mail payment to The University of Texas at Austin, P.O. Box 13177, Austin, Texas 78711-3177. Make check or money order payable to The University of Texas at Austin. Be sure to include the student’s name, UT EID and the word “Orientation” on the check so it gets posted to the correct account.

Here is the actual link:[University of Texas at Austin - Office of the Dean of Students - New Student Services - Summer Orientation](http://deanofstudents.utexas.edu/nss/sumorient_fresh.php)

You really need to become familiar with searching for information on UT’s website or utilizing Google. All the info you need is literally at your fingertips, you just need to put in the effort.

Yes, you can mail the payment! But you’re supposed to pay by a deadline. If you’re like me and waited until a few days before the deadline to pay, you’re out luck if you don’t have one of those cards.

You might be able to set up an Electronic Funds Transfer. I have Bank of America and a Visa card, and whenever I need to withdraw money from my account, I have the funds automatically deducted from my account. You’ll need to go here to set it up: <a href=“Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request”>Sign in with your UT EID - Stale Request;

(but maybe that doesn’t work if you aren’t enrolled yet)

ill prolly go pay in person

i live close enough

i wonder where i go

and thanks @buriedalie,

I know I can get the money automatically withdrawn from my checking account, I have Bank of America too. I’ll try that :)

worried
you can pay via snail mail…which is fine just mail it in about 3-5 days in advanced

if you live close enough…you can just go pay it in person?

tex
while i do agree that a little search you can find everything you need
UT’s website is a MESS to search, it can take someone an hour or two to find the correct information

if someone on here has already done something once they can easily pass on that information to another person and confirm that they’ve done it before
that’s what a forum is for.

seeing as how there is no “sticky” thread for this type of information. the question is perfectly valid

we need a sticky thread of commonly asked questions thats what we need
