Summer Plans for '09 Admits

What's everyone's summer plans for you Cornell '09ers?

I'm going to World Championships for Taekwondo as soon as school gets out, chillin' in Princeton for a week, and then heading up to the beach house in Marthas Vinyard to work at a summer camp until Mid-August. Then home for a week to pack and say goodbye to my old ivy league town, and then on the 19th...

Working as a caddy at one of the local golf courses, golfing all week, partying at my cottage in the 1000 islands on the weekends, and hitting up Nantucket for a week in August. It's going to be much better than my last summer (research/football workouts/coaching tball every day).

not sure yet.

Anybody doing NASA SHARP?

Probably nothing. That's always fun.

Im going back to China, where my relatives will spoil me. It's gonna be twice as bad this year cos they know I got into Cornell. There won't be enough space to bring back all my presents. haha

Damn I want relatives in china to give me presents...Well, my aunt did double my bday check but she's not in china! or even chinatown! then again, we're not azn. =D

I'll definitely be working at my multiple jobs to come up with my expected summer contribution for Cornell financial aid.. woohoo... But aside from that I'll be going down the shore a lot and just partying it up with friends. I'm trying to get a trip to Italy as my graduation present, but I doubt that's going to happen. LOL

I was thinking of NASA SHARP....definitely applying; hopefully, I can get some pay (even if it is minimum wage) but more importantly, resume padding.

ugh, i need to find a job soon. I'm going to be in China for the entire summer, so I can't possibly come up with my summer contribution. poopie...

Don't worry, I hear they just readjust everything if you don't meet the expected payment. And maybe some of your relatives in China will give you cash to help out! :)

I'll be in our house in Vermont for a week or two, work tutoring or elsewhere probably, and just relax and chill with friends mostly. I'll be in Israel for a few weeks too probably, but I'm not sure if i want to go. If i have the time, I may even be at cornell for a few weeks, maybe take a course or something (though my parents are against it)....everything is still a matter of debate.

By the way, what exactly is the NASA SHARP thing? I've never heard of it...and i hear about most elitist programs...

i am the only partying it up with friends before we all depart our separate ways?

No, everyone is...but I don't plan to spend the ENTIRE summer partying and lounging around...

lol then i guess i am the only one....

I'll be partying too!!! When I don't have to work. :( (See above post.)

I'm going to Italy for my graduation present. I'll come back to my difficult job as a lifeguard (getting paid to eat ice cream, sun bathe, and swim). I WILL have to work hard at swim practice before joining the Cornell team....but then it's off to a week of partying at the beach house with friends to say my final goodbyes!

And in August, I get to meet all you cool people!!

the 19th baby! Yeah whats NASA SHARP?

AJKates: rock on jew. Maybe there'll be some semblance of peace in Israel by the time of your vacation. Thats sort of unimaginable though...

NASA SHARP: Basically, I spent last summer working full-time with NASA scientists at the NASA center in NYC doing cutting-edge research and getting paid for it. It was great. I do think its pretty elite because there are very few people accepted nationwide although I don't know how many apply.
But I also got to write a killer college essay about it :-)

NASA SHARP sounds so awesome. Even though I have no interest in the sciences whatsoever, it sounds like a dream internship for any future engineer! :)
