Here are my basic summer plans for the next 3 years (not including fun and travel). Tell me what you guys think!

Volunteering (a variety of types, hoping to get 100+ hours)
Volunteering for Obama Campaign
Babysitting/ Dogsitting
Shadowing at a Lawyer's office for a week
Lead America Law and Justice Camp at Stanford
Stanford Forensics Institute Public Forum Debate Camp

Summer after 10th:
Governor's School for International Studies
Interning at a Lawyer's Office
Georgetown Institute for International Relations

Summer after 11th:
NFL Nationals (hopefully!)
Yale Ivy Scholars
Job

I understand I actually have to be accepted into the programs but this is what I hope to do!
What do you guys think? Is it effective use of my summer time?
How are you spending your summer?

It’s definitely impressive.

I’m doing Summer@Brown, AP Bio and maybe AP Stats online, a job (hopefully at Kumon), and volunteering at the hospital (I work with the babies!(: ) and Youth Court. It’s the summer between junior and senior year for me.

Don’t forget to plan some free time in there somewhere too.

As for your plans, they are great in my opinion! Try Summer@Brown, I will be applying next year :).

What is NFL? I went in the website but it doesn’t say how to enter. Your summer programs look great!!

First time I’m ever using this, but currently “smh”

Anyway, this summer I’m going to Girl’s State. Then I have a week-long session of planning for my Extended Essay. After that I’m going to the Young Democrat’s of America High School Leadership Academy. Hopefully I’ll be nominated to go to Girl’s Nation after that. And yes, I want to start volunteering for President Obama’s campaign after that.

@iluvbooks: Are you in the Young Democrats Club? Do they let you go to the leadership academy or is that something that is different?

@Food

No, there isn’t a chapter near me, though I’d like to start one. I just applied when they put their application out.

@iluvbooks94: What is girls state?

MODERATOR NOTE: CCs Terms of Service prohibits political posts. And yes, there’s a difference between saying that you are a member of a club or working on a campaign and discussing your opinion. This thread will be shut down if posters cannot follow the TOS.

Instead of reacting, use the Report Problem Post button.

It’s a week long program that happens in 49 states. It deals with educating girls about state and local governments. There’s also Boys State that does the same thing.

@iluvbooks94: That seems cool.

Yeah, I’m excited about it. I’m really interested in politics and the political process, so all my summer events are right up my alley. Plus, I love meeting people who are interested in the same things as me.

Your summer plans look fabulous! Rising sophomore here. This summer I’m volunteering at two hospitals (totaling 190+ hours), participating in the Model Regional Commission in my metro area, improving my math skills for Mu Alpha Theta next year, and working on my AP summer assignments.
