I wanted to do a summer program especially the one in Columbia ...but mostly all of them cost a lot of money .. anyone know any summer programs in NY that don't cost money?

What are you interested in? I don't know of any from the top of my head, but if you PM me your interests, I can try to find one.

research internship at Columbia........free!

If you want some summer programs at NY, you could just ask maybe your guidance counselor. Depends on what you're looking for though. The Japan Society is offering a 11-day workshop on how to direct kabuki and noh dramas for high schoolers (it's 75 dollars but you can get a full scholarship). You could try to volunteer at the Henry Street Settlement if you're looking for community service activities to fill your summer schedule with. Just browse online and you're bound to find summer activities.

Juniper Institute for Young Writers at UMass Amherst for one week.
Volunteering at library at Harry Potter Day woohoo! and shelving books, etc
Hopefully working
Writing a cookbook

Reading the 7th Harry Potter book over and over again
Seeing the film over and over again (comes out on my birthday)
Those do nothing for my resume but WHATEVS.

well i'm only 16 ... and i am interested in law. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE an internship in something thats related to law...can you guys plz help me find something in this area

for summer programs::: anything is fine thats in new york .. is free or under 100 dollars

thnx alot!

At Pace University every summer, there is a program called Summer Scholars. The program is offered to high school sophomores and juniors and the cost is around $650 for commuters (but you could apply for a scholarship). I know you get involved with various topics such as law and international diplomacy. Chris Mallone is usually the one in charge of the program and he's a legal studies professor. I only know this because he's a constitutional law judge for the We the People competition in New York (regional and state levels). If you're interested but you don't exactly meet the requirements (as in you're not sophomore or junior), you could try to call Pace and ask them if they could let you slide. I'm sure they're willing to get students who are interested in the courses that they provide in their summer program. Hope this helped. :)

internship at Cornell IT medical dept, running, sleeping, and eating. Also visiting some colleges if i ever have time. Oh, and volunteering at hospital on sundays as well.

Rising junior (me)...

I'm a elementary school teacher in a one-room school house in Honduras (yes, teaching in Spanish). I did the same thing last year, too.

I wonder - when I describe this to colleges, will they:
A. Think I'm lying
B. Think I'm insane
C. Think my parents are insane for letting me do this (I'm 13 now)
D. Admit me
E. B, C, and D

how are you guys getting these internships?!
lol where do you look... and how old do you have to be in order to get them??
