Are there any summer programs a rising sophomore can still apply for. Is there any research I can do.

---And I know a lot of CCers publish some of there writing. Can someone tell me who I can contact to do that.

If you’re into number theory research, check out Ross and/or PROMYS.

I would check out the websites of your state universities. Do a search for “high school” on the college’s website or check for outreach programs. I think state level programs tend to be more affordable, take younger students, and have later deadlines. Don’t get caught up in whether the program is prestigious. By doing something as a rising sophomore you are far ahead of the game, and are putting yourself in a good position for future years. My guess is it would be hard for a rising sophomore to get into a research position, particularly at this date, but by doing something you can increase your odds of finding something like that next summer. Don’t overlook volunteering locally as an option. My son has done a lot of that and the experience has served him well both in personal growth and in applications to post-junior year programs.
