Next year I'm taking some rigorous AP science classes. I'm thinking about perhaps taking those classes at a community college in the summer to get a head start on them. What do you guys think?

Note: Or am I better off doing self-study

If you’re going to do them at a CC (and are going to get credit for them) then there is really no reason to take the AP test. All the AP test is really good for is to get college credit.

Your best bet is to just do some reading prep in the summer to get ready for the AP classes.

I don’t even want the AP credit, I’m honestly REALLY trying to absorb the information like a wet sponge - I will need it for my career

Then take the AP class and the following summer take a more advanced class in it. There’s really no use in taking the basic class twice if you understand it.

Well I haven’t taken the basic pre-ap class since sophomore year (currently junior) so I don’t remember every single thing.

Ah.

I honestly still don’t think it’s worth it to take the CC class. Trust me, you don’t need to remember every single thing. Just get the AP bio or chem book early and do some summer reading. I promise, you’ll be fine :).

I just whole-heartedly think that taking the CC course before the AP class is a waste of time and money.

thank you very much I’ll take your advice.

Best of luck to you!

Oh, and FWIW- there is an AP prep section of CC. You can always go there if you want more specific advice.
