Summer Program "Chances"

Well, here I am, as the annoying person who's asking for a chance.
This summer program is a job (40 hrs/week) for 4 weeks that involves completing research. Here's the link:
Magee-Womens Research Institute and Foundation | High School Students
You guys seem good at deducing information, so i was wondering if you could comment. At first, I thought I had somewhat of a chance. Then, I read into it and I saw that most have done science fairs and even published research (I figured this to be a program taking in mostly locals @ first, so I was surprised).

I've never done a science fair before (though I hope to next year). I have personal reasons for wanting to do research, so I feel like I can write a nice essay. As a student, I have the usual top 10% of class in all honors and whatnot.

This program isn't famous, but can anyone help?

The website says that less than 20% of applicants are admitted, so if you really want to do a summer research program you should apply to more than one.

However, I don’t think that previous experience is necessary. The website says that they are looking for students who are interested in learning more about research. As long as you show interest in science and write good essays, you’ll have as good a chance as anyone. Are you involved with the science club at your school, hospital volunteer work, etc.? That would help your application the most (not only for this but also for college, if this is the field you’re interested in).

Just focus on writing solid essays, and maybe email the admissions coordinator with a few questions (I think her name is Janet) so that you are on her radar.

Best of luck!
