hello! this is my first post on here, so hi!

I'm currently a junior (in high school) planning on a music education degree (choral/general?) once I graduate. This upcoming summer is a big one, obviously, finalizing audition repertoire and visiting schools. Last summer, I participated in Ithaca's summer program for high schoolers and had a great time. This year, I am trying to come up with a program I'd want to do. I am either doing Ithaca again, Westminster, Crane, or...? Does anyone know of good summer programs? Ithaca is my top school at this point but I'd probably benefit from doing other programs as well. I'm looking for a vocal program that isn't necessarily completely choral based but also individual/solo based (or at least offers private lessons or the like, because it would be nice to work on audition music with professors.) Most of the programs I've looked at are only 2 weeks, which is fine, but the longer the better. One week programs aren't being considered, I want to get to know the campus! (and get away! haha)

If Ithaca is your true top priority and you really want to attend there go to the Ithaca camp. You want the professors familiar with you when you audition. You should also follow up with lessons in the fall with the professors there. I can tell you my son is a freshman at a different school, he and two others in his studio spent the summer of their junior year attending the intensive camp at the school. Good luck!!!

Last summer my daughter did Torggler Summer Vocal Institute and she loved it. Last year they did master classes and private lessons with Constanza Cuccaro from University of Indiana, Brian Stokes Mitchell, The Manhattan Transfer, and a male opera star who’s name escapes me. It was wonderful and inexpensive. She is planning on applying again next summer. Check out their website. Last year was the first program and it’s even bigger this year. It’s two weeks but should really be longer. There’s a week of classical and a week of musical theatre or jazz. Great program and I highly recommend. Good luck.
