My daughter is a rising 9th grader who has aspirations for pursuing a degree in Musical Theater in college. This past summer, she accepted a role in "Fiddler" at the Highlands Playhouse, in NC. Great experience! I'd like some of you to comment about your past summer's experiences in Musical Theater. We are wishing to send our daughter to a good summer program next year. Any good experiences? Strong recommendations? Any programs to avoid? We live in Georgia. Not much seems to be happening in our state. Never too early to start preparing...... Thanks!

You may wish to start with these two threads:
The first one is a list of summer theater programs that folks on this thread know about and often have attended:

The second one is a discussion of these programs and experiences at them:

Further, if you search some of the names of these summer programs on the MT Forum, you will find some specific threads. For instance, there are threads devoted just to CMU's PreCollege, Stagedoor Manor, Broadway Theater Project, CAP21 Summer program, MPulse, etc.

I just thought I'd get ya started. :)

PS, on a personal note, one of my kids (the one going for a BFA in MT) attended Stagedoor Manor for 8 summers (16 sessions) and one of my kids went for 4 summers (8 sessions) to French Woods Festival of the Performing Arts, in case you have questions about either of those.
