summer program grade

okay this summer i took a summer engineering course with john hopkins for college credit and gotr a B (which stands for bad). will colleges look and this and be like this person sucks or will they be like "hey if got a B in a 'college course' that means they can survive at collegge' ?

and since its the summer will it go onto my past yr [jr] or upcoming year [sr] transcipt?

I did the summer program at Hopkins a while back and I got an ‘A’ and a ‘B+’ in my two courses. Engineering at Johns Hopkins is tough, and a ‘B’ is not necessarily bad. I’m not sure how colleges would look at a ‘B’ from a school like Hopkins. I’m guessing some would say, “the student did fine, considering he hasn’t even graduated high school,” while others might ask why you didn’t get an ‘A’. Getting a ‘B’ is a toss up in my book.

Just an FYI, I got into Hopkins so I wouldn’t sweat it.

As for where this goes on a transcript? Are you talking about the high school transcript or college transcript? I can’t tell you about your high school. As for college transcripts, there is a term called “Summer 2009.” It would go under that term. Hopkins I believe is on a semester system (fall, spring, and summer). They really don’t designate freshman year, sophomore year, junior, senior, etc. on most college transcripts since a lot of students have incoming AP/college credit, change majors, take time off, etc. Such a designation would be difficult to make. They just list the courses during the semester you took it (Fall 2008, Spring 2009, Summer 2009, Fall 2009, etc.).

Since you got college credit for it, just remember you need to send a transcript directly from JHU to the admissions committees at the schools you are applying to. This is in addition to whatever notation (if any) is made on your high school transcript.

Yeah I seriously think your B is not only not bad, but pretty darn good considering how tough engineering can be. It’ll help your app for sure, plus it shows initiative.

A would have been better, but at least you didn’t get a C. Good Luck!

well im more worried about my HS transcript since the B is going to hurt my GPA but idk if itll hurt my previous GPA or my upcoming GPA

yeah i did Engineering Innovation
