hello, I’m currently a high school freshman from California hoping to be pre-med at Stanford. I had a few questions hopefully you all can answer them! first, has anyone heard of summer fuel Berkeley? I was looking at it, but hadn’t heard anything about it previously. second, in general does anyone know some good college programs available to a high school freshman that aren’t super expensive or at least offer scholarships? I’m from a very low income family and can’t afford $6,000 for 4 weeks at a university program. finally, slightly off topic, are there any online courses where I could take cp bio that aren’t super expensive? my schedule got messed up and because of the AP’s I need to take all the other years I need to complete cp bio but since I want to do a summer program it needs to be online.
thank you so much !
side note- if none of the traditional university summer programs work out for me, would taking a zoology summer program be okay? even though it isn’t “prestigious” it sounds fun and is free for me.
(the zoology program is at a local community college)
Try coursera for online stuff; they have a lot of great free courses. SummerFuel is really fun but isn’t particularly dense with regards to quality matter. It’s not about “prestige” as much as it is about doing something that ties in with the rest of your application that shows your passion. Stanford has a lot of summer courses and I’m sure there are a few in biology. Summer@USC might also be an option. Good luck!
