<p>Depends on the Summer Program or internship. If it's RSI versus a local internship, RSI is probably gonna look better because of the prestige. The opposite if it's like a college credit program vs. a prestigious internship.</p>
<p>Depends, really. If you have to pay for the program, it isn't worth as much as an internship.</p>
<p>Think about it this way:
You have plenty of time to get job experience for the "real world."
You have four years to attend most high school summer programs.</p>
<p>I interned in a lab last summer. It did help me gain more real-world credentials (which was nice), but then I figure I could write papers any time when I'm in college, and I only have one more year to do fun stuff like Mathcamp, traveling etc.</p>
<p>But yeah, the prestige factor definitely depends. Google both and use your best judgement.</p>
